As a new parent, introducing our baby to solid foods has been so exciting, fun, and so rewarding! Making your own baby food can be cost-effective and also ensures that your little babe is getting the freshest and most nutritious ingredients possible. When mashing and making these purees for a thinner consistency you can add a little bit of breast milk or water. In this blog, I will discuss five of the best puree combinations.

Mashed Banana and Avocado Puree

Mashed banana and avocado puree is a nutritious combination. Bananas are rich in potassium, while avocados are packed with healthy fats and fiber. As you can tell by the picture, this is my little babe's favorite puree!

Sweet Potato Puree

Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, including beta-carotene, which is essential for healthy eyes and skin. This one takes a little more time since you need to bake the sweet potato but it's well worth it.

Green Apple and Kale Puree

Green apples are rich in antioxidants and fiber, while kale is packed with iron, calcium, and vitamin A. Callahan loves this one but it is a little on the tart side, the kale helps.

Carrot and Mango Puree

Carrots are rich in vitamin A and other essential nutrients, while mangoes are high in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. We originally got the idea from the Kirkland Fruit and Vegetable Pouches. Those are perfect for on-the-go use, but when we have the time we like to make it fresh!

Strawberry and Spinach Puree

Strawberries are packed with vitamin C, folate, and antioxidants, while spinach is a great source of iron, calcium, and vitamin A. Again, an idea we got from the pouches but it's a super simple and easy recipe with no cooking involved!

Making your own baby food can be fun and rewarding. These five baby purees are not only delicious but also packed with essential nutrients for your baby's growth and development. Experiment with different combinations of fruits and vegetables to find your baby's favorite flavors. Who knows, they may like the weirdest combinations!
