Boss Babe, Business Owner, and Entrepreneur - McKenzie Meland

Welcome back or welcome to Blogmas - Day Seven!

During Blogmas this week we have a great guest blogger, McKenzie Meland! She is a boss babe working hard to create a brand she loves and hopes you'll love too. She has been creating an uplifting community within her brand, Wild Grl and she'll be talking about it with you today. Kenzie will be going over how she started her brand, where she is now with her company, and where she wants to take it!

I finished my last semester at UND in fall of 2021 and soft launched my

brand in my senior art exhibition. I had the original design for Wild Grl showcased here, the COOL GIRLS ARE WILD OG HOODIE, that I began selling November 2022. I started this brand with just an idea in August 2020 and simply began revolving my class assignments that fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters at UND around what that business could be.

After graduating I began to fully dive into learning on how to start a business and begin my brand. I began learning the duties of taxes, liabilities of business within the state, forming an LLC, and all the regulations you need to meet to establish a business. On top of the credentials, I was consistently working on my social media presence on the @shopwildgrl Instagram page.

The Instagram page, @shopwildgrl, is a place for a dose of inspiration and happiness on the internet, and a place to be creative. I consistently built a feed to showcase my brand. Lastly, while learning rules and regulations for business, how to start a website, shipping, AND showing up on social media, I was getting my inventory created and bought from manufactures. I had my OG Hoodie printed locally in Grand Forks, ND, and my Wild Grl Club Crews and Tank also embroidered at a local Fargo, North Dakota print shop. All the zodiac posters were hand designed by me and printed via an online shop.

Each design of everything sold on Wild Grl was designed by me and

stems from the eccentric, funky, and

fun aesthetic I wanted to showcase.

After I had this all finished, I was able to complete my website set up and launch Wild Grl this November.

Wild Grl is about spreading the impact of being excited and thrilled about the little things in life. It’s about creating an uplifting community to be a place for others to find sheer joy and inspiration to be creative and push themselves to get out of their comfort zone in their own lives. Wild Grl thrives on aesthetically pleasing graphic design posts, inspiring others, and loving the small things in life, like something as simple as a hoodie.

A few facts about Wild Grl is that Wild Grl LLC formed in January of 2022, launched in November of 2022, and was created by me, McKenzie Meland. You can find me on Instagram @kenziemeland or my brand @shopwildgrl. You can also check out my website
