Day In The Life of a Mom on Maternity Leave

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

As my maternity leave is coming to an end, I'd like to take you through my typical day as a mom on maternity leave. Now, everyday isn't like this but they're pretty similar! Sometimes we have more fun, sometimes we have less fun. Sometimes there is more cleaning, sometimes there is less. One thing I know for sure is that Cal eats and uses his diaper at least a million times a day everyday!

I woke up at 5:30 this morning and it was freezing in the house! Right away Cal was cooing so I changed his diaper, changed him into a different jumper for the day, then put him in his swing.

Then I cut up lemons for my water, made a cup of coffee, and took my vitamins. After that I fed the dogs and let them outside to play for a bit.

After, I nursed Cal on the couch while watching an episode of, The Kardashians.

Cal fell asleep while nursing so I changed him and put him down for a nap in his crib.

I pumped using my handsfree pump, while doing that I made myself a bowl of oatmeal, made another cup of coffee, and did a little social media planning. I also filled out my morning planner, the Hot Minute Planner. It's a planner that helps you prep your tasks for the rest of the day, go through your book, podcast, meditation, and more! After I finished my food I let the dogs outside, unloaded and loaded the dishwasher, and checked the mail.

While he was still sleeping I cleaned up the living room. I dusted, swept the floor, and washed the tables, then I cleared off the dining table all while listening to, The Skinny Confidential podcast.

Since luckily Cal was still asleep I started my morning routine. I showered, shaved, brushed my hair, brushed my teeth, and did my morning skincare routine, click link below for my routine.

He finally woke up so I bottle fed him, changed his diaper, and did tummy time. He also recently started noticing himself in the mirror! So we sat in front of the mirror smiling at ourselves and babbling. He started to get tired so I set him in the swing and he was off to sleep.

I threw the ball a little while for the dogs, then I pumped again using my hands free pump. While doing so I worked on a few blogs, snuggled Mable on the couch, and filled out my planner for the day and added some things for the following months.

I went into the kitchen and cleaned the counters, wiped the stove and coffee machine, ate my milk production cookies, drank my milk production beverage, and got more water.

Cal woke up. I changed him, he wanted some snuggles, and he nursed. While we was nursing I made myself a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. After he was done I ate my soup and watched another episode of our show with Cam.

Using my handsfree pump, I pumped again. While I was pumping I made chocolate chip pumpkin bread. While I was waiting for it to cook I watched a few YouTube videos and Cal fell asleep in my arms.

I took the pumpkin bread out of the oven. The my friend LeAnn came over and we exchanged spooky baskets. While she was here I worked on my Boo Bags for my neighbors. If you don't know what Boo Bags are they're little goodie bags filled with treats and toys that you gift around Halloween. I hand drew and wrote on their bags, I filled them with slime, spider rings, little pinball games, Halloween themed bubbles, chocolates, skittles, and starbursts.

LeAnn fed Cal and I taught her how to burp him. She left and I changed him. We hung out on the couch doing tummy time while I read, It Ends With Us, written by Colleen Hoover.

Cal fell asleep again and I put him in his crib. I used my handsfree pump and wrote a little more on the blog and also finished social media planning. I had to call my work HR to add pumping time into my schedule.

He woke up so I changed him, nursed him, and he fell right back to sleep. While I nursed him I was watching Instagram reels.

I started to make dinner, beef and rice bowls. Cameron and I ate and watched another two episodes of our show.

Cam started a bath for me and during that time I used my handsfree pump. After the bath was ready I took a bubble bath and did a facemask. After, I got in comfy pajamas, braided my hair, and unloaded the dishwasher.

Up again, Cal got changed and nursed. I changed him into pajamas and we went and got comfy on the couch. We fell asleep watching a TV show.

Cam woke us up off the couch. I pumped using my hands on pump. During that time, he fed Cal and changed his diaper.

I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and did my skincare routine. We all then got cuddled up in our bed, I scrolled Instagram a bit, and fell asleep.

I hope you enjoyed reading about a day in my life as a mom on maternity leave. I'm trying my hardest to soak up all the love and baby cuddles I can before I go back to work in about a week and a half. As much as I'm loving spending time with my abbe, I am excited to get back into the grind of things. Until next time!
